Where will Gomez end up...and when?

Is it naive of me to think (see: hope) that he could possibly stay at VfB if they qualify for CL this year? The front office curbed some decent offers from some big clubs. I mean unless Man City or someone else offers an obscene amount of money, which is totally possible, at the January transfer window he'll at least be around for this year

Gomez still has a contract until 2012, so should Stuttgart play in the Champions League, then Armin Veh might fight tooth and nail to hold onto him. Stuttgart could still sell him a year later.
But I think that selling him could be a blessing in disguise for Stuttgart. Just look at Hamburg, who re-invested very wisely and created a squad with greater depth and balance. If Stuttgart can get around €30m from Gomez, then they could use the money to enhance the overall quality of the squad and maybe Manuel Fischer can deliver on his promise of being the next Mario Gomez...
