Who wins in 2010?

Postby ianrose on September 4th, 2008, 2:56 pm

Alright, kids. The UEFA qualifiers are almost upon us, so it's time to start wildly predicting stuff. Will the Italians repeat in 2010? Will the Spanish follow up their Euro with a WC star? Will the hosts get wildly unfair results in their favor? Who do you think will win the 2010 World Cup?

I'm going with Argentina. There's just too much quality on their side, if they're healthy.

Who's your pick?

I wouldn't bet against Spain imitating France and doing the Euro-WC double. Seems like most of the Euro 2008 squad will still be around, and the younger guys (Torres, Fabregas etc) will be that bit more mature.

But in reality, Argentina.

Well, it's definetely too early to predict anything at all, but I have a feeling that one of the South American sides will win the World Cup, and it's probably going to be Brasil. It has become a tradition, dating back to 1962, that European sides win tournaments in Europe, and South American sides win all other World Cups. Brasil won in Chile, England in England, Brasil in Mexico, Germany in Germany, Argentina in Argentina, Italy in Spain, Argentina in Mexico, Germany in Italy, Brasil in USA, France in France, Brasil in Korea-Japan, Italy in Germany - now it's South Americans' turn to shine in South Africa. It would be nice if Argentina won it after so many years, but they always dissapoint you at the biggest stage. A shame for such a great team, really.

I feel like it could be Spain doing the double, realistically though I'll have to go with either Italy, Agentina, or Germany because of how well they perform in tournaments.

i would go with on of the replys here... south american country might take it ,
look at the brasil and argentina squad... the new generation youth could do alot if they are in safe hands....
my pick would be .... Brasil , argentina , spain....

i dont see france , england, italia makin it anywere beacuse all these team will be goin thru new phase with new players coming in.... germany could also be a strong team , given metzelder doesnt score any own goals....

England, I always root for England to win it.

Argentina.. err, not enough discipline, especially with ol Diego in there now.

France! Nasri, Ribery, Benzema, Ben Arfa, they'll be lookin real good by the time 2010 comes around...

COLOMBIA!!! My underachieving country.. how I love thee.
