Are you happy with your team?

Postby asherstorm27 on September 27th, 2008, 6:14 am

At the moment, i am thoroughly happy with our team, apart from one problem....

Nicolas Anelka.

Note how well Scolari has been rotating our team, so that all of our players get a chance to show off their great skills and giving them a chance to show him what kind of team works best together. I never thought i would ever say this, but he is allready doing a better job than jose mourinho. Although jose got us the results we had never had before at chelsea, never have i ever seen us play with this much pase, awareness and having a general WOW factor on the pitch. By doing what Scolari has done with the team so far, gives me great belief that we are truely unstoppable this season. However, I can show you how Nicolas Anelka is a real problem for us, considering we have two of the best strikers in the world who need to be played. Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou are a unstoppable striking partnership and Nicolas Anelka should only be a bench warmer. Anleka has had a great history, and WAS a great player, but im sure you can all agree that he has passed his peak. This was the same with Andriy Shevchenko, although, thank god we didnt spend 30 mil on Nicolas "i've passed my peak" Anelka. Yes you may argue that he has scored a few times... tap ins, but none the less he has scored and a goal is a goal at the end of the day, but to be a striker for chelsea you need way more than what he has got to offer, Kalou has got bags more energy, has scored more goals, is alot younger and carries alot more skill on the ball. If you watch Anelka closely in matches, you will find most of his passes are smothered out by the opposite defence and his awareness is very poor. Proof of how scolari tested to see weather it was Anelka ruining our team is held in the team sheet put out against Portsmouth during last week in the Carling Cup.
1. Petr Cech
2. Branislav Ivanovic
26. John Terry
33. Alex
18. Wayne Bridge
35. Juliano Belletti
13. Michael Ballack (69)
8. Frank Lampard (74)
21. Salomon Kalou
15. Florent Malouda
11. Didier Drogba (79)
SUBS
23. Carlo Cudicini (GK)
9. Franco Di Santo (79)
12. John Mikel Obi
16. Scott Sinclair (74)
19. Paulo Ferreira (69)
42. Michael Mancienne
43. Miroslav Stoch

Notice how only do you not see Anelka in this team sheet, scolari also rotated the team to give players such as scott sinclear, paulo ferreira, branislav ivanovic, wayne bridge and alex a chance to play, as they have not been in the squad very regularly. Jose wouldnt have rotated the team this much. Also notice how scolari keeps our all important spine in the team - Petr Cech, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba. In my opinion, all great teams rely on their spine, the spine can be fixed when broken in a football team, but i am glad to say we are not like liverpool or manchester united and rely on two players only. Gerrard and Torres for liverpool, Ronaldo and Rooney for united. We won this match against pompy 4-0.

I do truely feel that with phil scolari in the driving seat for us, we can achieve the best results we have ever seen for chelsea. Now we see the return of Didier Drogba from injury, i can only hope that he replaces Anelka and that Anelka is either kept on the bench for some fresh legs to use later in the game, or to be replaced all together by a younger, more talented, all rounded striker.

Any replies to this will be appreciated, i just had to get this off my chest lol. Are you as happy with the team as i am? Wouls you like to change anything about the team, if so remember to back it up with some info lol, dont just say "uuhh yeah i think malouda is shit coz he dont wanna be there" lol. Express yourself as much as you like, Chelsea FC for life! :D
